 Week 2  Winter Theme

Hello Pre-K Families,

Monday- We started our day with a little skate party as students finished their morning work. We learned more about Winter and shared what we did over the weekend at circle time. We learned how to make the capital letter J (Big line down, little curve) and capital letter D (Bid line down, frog jump up and big curve around. We worked on the letters J and D in our Handwriting without Tears Workbooks. We also did some assessment with Ms. D. and finished up our Gingerbread Man art with oil pastel crayon tracing and water color painting.

Tuesday- We enjoyed our first All Spoede Family Assembly of the New Year. I am proud to say our Pre-K students showed Spoede ROCKS and were very attentive throughout the assembly. We practiced writing our names with the first letter Uppercase and the rest lowercase.  We enjoyed another 60+ degree day with outside recess and went on a short nature walk. In Music with Ms. Li, we continued to work on our "RESPONSIBLE" song with lyrics written to the tune of Star Wars theme.  We practiced the marching part we had learned last week and added some other movements with our light sabres.

Wednesday- We completed a Build a Penguin project by coloring, cutting and gluing different parts of a penguin onto paper.  We worked on identifying the numeral on each mitten and then adding the number of stickers to match the numeral. We also cut out our mountains for our winter scene in Art with Ms. Tara.  It was a bit little chilly; However, we still went outside for recess.

Thursday- Had a great morning with our Westminster Student Mason, building, creating, enjoying some extra time for imaginative play. It was a little cold to do outdoor recess so we did indoor recess, skating and dancing to DJ Ralphi, Danny Go and Ice Skating on plates. We finished cutting out our trees for our Winter Landscape Art Project we are going to finish this week with Ms. Tara. We colored a read a Gingerbread Man reproducible book that we will bring home this week after we practice reading it together a few times.  It's a repetitive story with the Brown Bear, Brown Bear type cadence...  "Gingerbread man, Gingerbread man, What do you see? I see a ____ looking at me!" and the traditional "Run, run, as fast as you can! You can't catch me!  I'm the Gingerbread man." Some students are still wanting to add more color to their book.  We started learning about Martin Luther King Jr. and
