Monday- No School. President's Day
Tuesday - We celebrated Lunar New Year learning about the holiday through books. We colored and cut Dragon Masks, made Dragon paper lanterns with coloring and tricky cutting instructions, and decorated, folded, and designed Dancing Dragon puppets. In the afternoon, we had played multiple instruments, marched together holding onto stretchy band and loops, and used scarves in Music with Ms. Li.
Wednesday - Enjoyed a beautiful day of outdoor, building, being creative and hunting for signs of spring on a beautiful day where temperatures surpassed 70 degrees. We finished Chinese New year activities and read about our Presidents for Presidents day. Introduced new play dough creation characters which was really popular.
Thursday - Measured Arctic animals using nonstandard measuring tools of unit blocks and math links. Cut apart a puzzle with numbers on each piece, and then reassembled them using numerical order. Made crazy creations and enjoyed great fine motor strengthening with playdough.
Friday - Art with Ms. Tara. Collage creation using shapes. We learned that their are two different types of shapes, geometric shapes which we can name (square, triangle, rectangle, circle, etc. and are straight lines connected together (except for the circle.) Organic shapes are free flowing. The students used both kinds of shapes to make a creative collage. In the afternoon, we welcomed the return of our 4th Grade buddies. We played games and re-kindled our friendships.
